January 1995 – Passage. Loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and brother, Don Jr. Edwards, 73, passed away suddenly January 30, 1995 in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Born April 18, 1921 in Preston, Idaho a son of Don Carlos and Minnie Alice Howlett Edwards. In 1940, Don was involved with his family in originating "Don Carlos Bar-b-que" at 872 South Main. He married Dorothy Ranee Griffiths (now Jacobson) on July 6, 1941. She was actively involved in the family business until they divorced in 1952. They had one daughter.

In 1950, the family created the Arctic Circle Franchise. It was in 1952 that "Don Carlos Bar-b-que Arctic Circle" was established at 135 East 900 South. It was remodeled in 1953 to become a drive-in and the official business office.

Don later married Dorothy Jane Hall and they had four daughters, Dorothy died March 20, 1985.

In 1971, after the death of Don Carlos Edwards, the Bar-b-que was disbanded and officially became Arctic Circle. A few years later, Arctic Circle created the franchise for Minit Lube, (which is now Q-Lube.)

On November 15, 1985, the Minit Lube and Arctic Circle businesses were both sold to Quaker State Oil, at which time Don retired.

He married Fae Saldivar, January 16, 1986 in Las Vegas, Nevada. She was actively involved in the companies for 32 years.

Don loved fishing, deer hunting, and enjoyed raising award-winning roses and amaryllis's, he was an amazing gardener. Don raised canaries as another hobby. He served as a medic in the Army during World War II.

He had a great love for his family and will be greatly missed. "We love you, Honey, Daddy and Grandpa."

Survived by his wife, Fae; five daughters: 3 stepchildren: 13 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; one brother, and his driver and trusted friend. Preceded in death by his parents.

February 1995 – Funeral. Funeral services will be Saturday, February 4th, 2 p.m., in the Larkin Sunset Gardens Mortuary Chapel, 10600 South 1700 East, in Sandy, where friends may call Friday evening, 6-8 p.m., and on Saturday, one hour prior to the services.
