David was born in Madison County, Kentucky on April 4, 1964, the son of the late Henry & Margaret Butler Shelton. David was a resident of the Nathaniel House and he was known there to his friends as "Gentle Giant". He never met a stranger and was well loved and helpful to everyone he met. David enjoyed helping cook and looked forward to the painting classes. He also loved country music and watching old television shows.
Survivors include: one brother, Dwayne Shelton (Roberta), of Danville; one aunt, Imogene Shelton, of Waco; his cousins, Jerry Shelton (Serena), of Frankfort, Cheryl Gibbs (Don), of North Carolina; Deborah McMaine (Gerald), of Waco; Ronnie Shelton, of Richmond; one nephew, Benjamin Shelton, of Shelbyville; and of course his Nathaniel House Family.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 PM Saturday, September 11, 2021, at the Combs, Parsons & Collins Funeral Home, W. Main St., Richmond. Burial will follow in the Madison County Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will begin at 11:00 AM Saturday, at the funeral home.
