John "Johnny" Lee Berry, 80, passed away in hospice care on August 14, 2021. John was born in Beeville, Texas, on May 29, 1941. He moved from San Antonio, Texas to Longmont, Colorado in 1998. He is preceded in death by his father Estel Berry, stepfather Joe Smith, mother Dora Williams, brother Bobby Berry, sister Patsy Griffin and daughter Donna Berry Berkhimer. He received an Honorable Discharge from the United States Army in 1963. He was a graduate of Mathis High School, and received his Associate's Degree at St. Philip's College, and was a Certified Respiratory Therapist. John was a well-known animal lover and enjoyed taking walks with his beloved dog Ruby Lee around the neighborhood.
He is survived by his wife, children, grandchildren, brother He had 13 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren .
A memorial service will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday, August 28, 2021, at Faith Community Lutheran Church in Longmont. Family and friends are welcome to a gathering with refreshments in the hall immediately following the service. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in memory of John Berry to the Blackhat Humane Society, P.O. Box 3123, Durango, CO. 81302 or blackhat humane society.org/donate .
