On the evening of September 2, 2021, Rene Inocente Lopez, Jr. MD, passed away; he was surrounded by his wife, sister, and four children. Dr. Lopez was forty-nine years old. He will forever be in the hearts of his mother, Maricruz (80), his sisters Bonnie, Roxana, and Marieta, his best friend and brother-in-law, Kevin, his nieces and nephews: Alexandria (Q), Patrick, Analia (Queen Lia), Jhody, Liana, Rene (Little Rene), Sarita, Cristian, Andres, and so many more family members in El Salvador. He will be remembered by his many friends from Bonham, TX, and his fellow alums from Texas Tech University and Universidad Autónoma de Guadalajara.

Dr. Lopez was born in Atlanta, Georgia, on February 16, 1972. He graduated from Bonham High School in 1990 and received his bachelor's degree from Texas Tech University. He went on to earn a MD from Universidad Autónoma de Guadalajara and completed the Conroe Family Medicine Residency Program. He was an outstanding and noble physician who was deeply loved by his patients. His work was honored when he received "Top Family Practitioner" of Houston, Texas in 2016, 2017, and 2018, and he was featured on "America's Best Doctors" in 2020.

Rene was a devoted Dallas Cowboys fan. He loved trips to Cancun with his family, swimming in his at-home oasis, and watching his sons play football. Friday nights were often spent on the couch snuggled up next to his wife, children, and his dog, Snoopy. They say it's not the years in your life that count, but the life in your years. There could not be a truer sentiment for Rene's life.
