Patsy Jackson Powell Smith, 85, of Vero Beach, Florida, left this world unexpectedly on September 4, 2021.
She was born to the late Otis and Ruth Lynn Jackson in Ludowici, Georgia on January 7, 1936. She graduated from VBHS Class of 1953. She was married to Grover "Rea" Powell and together they had three children. They were married for 39 years until his passing. Patsy was blessed to find love again and married Carl Smith. They were married for 15 years until his passing.
Patsy worked for the A&P, Advertiser, News Tribune, IRC School District, and the Vero Beach Press Journal until her retirement.
She loved her family with all her heart and loved to cook. Holidays were her favorite and always decorated her home for all to enjoy. Her happiest time was when she was spending time with her family. She was strong in her faith and loved the Lord and was a member of Faith Baptist Church. She was a member of the Wabasso Women's Club.
She is also preceded in death by her twin brother, Pat Jackson, and her granddaughter, Kayla Powell.
She is survived by her three children: Kaye Summerall (Joe), Wanda Schlitt (Larry), and David Powell (Mary); her sisters: Mary Jordan and Misty Hunter. She was a grandmother to Matthew, Aubrey, Corey (Amber), Taylor, Alisyn, Rylee, Kaelin, Asher, Pam, Theresa, David, Melissa, Brandon, and Kristofer. She also had many great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
Funeral services will be Friday, September 10th, 11:00 a.m. at Strunk Funeral Home Vero Beach Chapel; Funeral services will also be streamed so that all may attend safely from their home if preferred.
