Gary Thomas, 85, of Chattanooga went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, September 7, 2021. He was a graduate of Central High School here in Chattanooga.

Gary was a veteran of the U.S. Army for 3 years spending over 2 years of his service in the Far East. In 1962, he graduated from Samford University in Birmingham, Alabama, as a pharmacist. Gary met the "love of his life", Patricia Ann Genter, when he was 18 years old (she was 15). He said it was love at first sight and she was the most beautiful girl he had ever seen. A lifetime resident of Chattanooga, Gary was a member of Brainerd Hills Baptist Church. He retired from pharmacy in 2001.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Mildred Ingle Thomas and his father, John Clifford Thomas, a sister, Charlotte Thomas Humphreys.

Gary is survived by his wife, Patricia Genter Thomas of 64 years, one son, Gary Thomas Jr., and two daughters, Tina Laubscher of Chattanooga and Lori Hayes of Birmingham, Alabama, 4 grandsons, 2 granddaughters and 3 great-grandchildren, a sister, LaVerne Thomas Stott of Chattanooga.

A graveside service will be held at the Chattanooga National Cemetery with military honors at 1:30 pm Tuesday, September 14, 2021 with Minister Rebecca Thomas officiating.
