Elizabeth Mae Hunt, 81, passed away Tuesday, September 7, 2021 after months of declining health. She was born February 14, 1940 in Chicago, Illinois to the late Everett Farwell and Edna Eaton Farwell.

Elizabeth was fiercely independent and had a passion for music. She played both the trombone and piano. Her other passion was gardening and making sure no one she knew went hungry. She had many philanthropic interests and donated to many different charities throughout her life including The Boys Ranch, Red Cross, Toys for Tots, the March of Dimes, The Wounded Warrior Project and the Knightdale High School Band Boosters.

She is survived by her daughter, Heather Hunt Smith and husband Steven Lee Smith; grandchildren: Kylian Hunt, Brooke Wallig, Shari-Ann Hunt, Mary Thompson; and two great-granddaughters: Kate and Abby Thompson.

In addition to her parents, Elizabeth was preceded in death by her husband, Allen Addison Hunt and son, Marvin Lewis Hunt.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 am, Friday, September 10, 2021 at Gethsemane Memorial Gardens, 89 W. Gannon Avenue, Zebulon.

We would like to encourage people in lieu of sending flowers to donate to a non-profit that is near and dear to their heart. If our friends or family would like to donate to The Knightdale High School Band, donations can be sent to KHS Band Association, P.O. Box 748, Knightdale, NC 27545.
