Shane Allen Reed, 20, of Van Wert died of a gunshot wound Friday at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines. The manner of death is under investigation with the Polk County medical examiner's office. Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at the Van Wert Assembly of God Church, with burial at Van Wert Cemetery.
Mr. Reed was born in Leon and had lived in Van Wert for 20 years. He was a switch assembler at Furnas Electric Co. in Osceola.
Among survivors are his parents, Dorman and Kathleen Reed of Van Wert; three sisters, Brenda Ekeland and Karen Reed, both of Urbandale, and Valorie Reed of Van Wert; and his grandparents, Eddie and Elsie Reed for Van Wert and Elaine Reynolds of Osceola.
Friends may call after 10 a.m. today at Slade-O'Donnell Funeral Home in Leon, where the family will be present from 7 to 8 p.m.
