Mr. Joel Franklin McDaniel, Jr., age 83, of Thomaston, died Monday, September 6, 2021, at Upson Regional Medical Center. Graveside funeral services for Mr. McDaniel will be held Thursday, September 9, at 2:00 PM, in the Emory's Chapel Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. David Dawson officiating. The family will receive friends Thursday afternoon from 12:30 until 1:30 PM, at Fletcher-Day Funeral Home.
Mr. McDaniel was born in Thomaston on September 3, 1938, to the late Joel Franklin McDaniel, Sr. and Florette Parker McDaniel. He served his country in both the Army and the Navy. Mr. McDaniel was a retired supervisor from B. F. Goodrich Martha Mills where he worked for 35 years. He was a loving husband and father who worked hard to provide for his family, even if it meant doing without himself. Mr. McDaniel was a member of Emory's Chapel Baptist Church.
Mr. McDaniel is survived by his wife, Mrs. Billie Ann McDaniel of Thomaston; a son, Joel McDaniel of Thomaston; two daughters: Johnnie Ann (Dana) Daniel of Thomaston, and Jo Lane (Samuel) Weeks of Griffin; two sisters: Agnes Hanson and Edna Smith; eleven grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, and his fur babies, JoJo and Lucy.
