ODESSA - Margaret Janell Gilbert "Grammy" went to be with her Lord and Savior September 5, 2021 at the age of 77. Visitation will be at 11:00 A.M., September 17, 2021 at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home, followed by Graveside Service at 1:00 P.M. Officiated by Pastor and long-time friend Reverend Clydel Chapman. Margaret was born June 22, 1944, in Clarita OK to Forrest and Lillie Woodell. She graduated from Sulphur High School 1962. She married Freddie Gilbert in August 1962, in Sulphur OK. In 1965 Odessa, Texas became their new home. Margaret was a homemaker and an active member of North Side Baptist Church, where she was known for her remarkable cooking skills, especially her brisket and chocolate pies. She loved teaching in Sunday school and vacation bible school. She enjoyed league bowling with family and friends. She had a passion for collecting Coca-Cola novelty. Margaret is preceded in death by her loving husband Freddie Gilbert, her parents Forrest and Lillie Woodell, and four brothers, and two sisters. Margaret is survived by her daughter Sherri Webb and husband Larry. Son, Rusty Gilbert and wife Tracy. Two grandsons; Eric Webb and Peyton Gilbert. Three granddaughters; Jenifer House and husband Chris, Regan White and husband Trevor, all of Odessa TX, and Allyson Gilbert of Mckinny TX. Six great grandchildren; Bailey, Mady, Quade, Rylee, Ellanor, and Rowen. One sister; Kathy John and husband Jamie. Two brothers; Terry Woodell and wife Terry, Keith Woodell and wife Joyce all of Sulphur OK. And numerous nieces and nephews. Pallbearers: Rusty Gilbert, Peyton Gilbert, Larry Webb, Eric Webb, Chris House, and Trevor White. The family of Margaret Gilbert wishes to extend our sincere thanks to Hospice, Sunset Memorials, North Side Baptist Church. Arrangements are entrusted to Sunset Memorial Gardens and Funeral Home.
