Mary Aline Vance was born on April 16, 1938 in Monroe, Oklahoma to Thomas Samuel and Oda (Phillips) Reece. She passed away on September 5, 2021 in Tulsa, Oklahoma at the age of 83.
Mary was one of twelve children and she grew up and attended school in Monroe, Oklahoma. Mary played basketball in high school and was an All-State Guard; she graduated from high school and later attended cosmetology school to become a licensed cosmetologist. After receiving her license, she owned and operated her own salon. She met Maynard Doss Vance in Oklahoma City and the two were married in 1968. After marrying, she became a full time wife and mother. She loved taking care of her family and spending time with her kids and grandkids. She was known by all of her family and friends for her uncanny ability to catch fish and she loved to fish. She was also a creative and gifted seamstress. She sewed many beautiful square dancing dresses over the years, as well as many other things. She also enjoyed playing cards, especially Peaknuckle.
Mary was a Christian woman, of the Baptist faith. She had a close personal relationship with the Lord and enjoyed reading her bible every night before bed. She was a special lady who will be greatly missed by all the people who loved her.
She is survived by son, Keith Vance of Chouteau; daughter, Christy Cain and husband Jason of Chouteau; six grandchildren, Ryan Cole and wife Megan of Pryor, Justin Cole of Oklahoma City, Brian Vance of Pryor, Brittany Vance of Kingman, Arizona, Mary Beth Cole of Chouteau and Blake Vance and wife Kelly of Tucson, Arizona; seven great grandchildren, Dallas, Easton, Wyatt, Isabel, Isaac, Hudson, Asher and Waylon and one sister, Junie Forehand and husband Audrey of Eufaula as well as many nieces, nephews and other special friends and family.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Maynard; an infant baby brother; six brothers, Olen, Yule, Harley, Hobert, James and Troy and three sisters, Pauline, Wilma and Mamie.
