On Sunday, September 5, 2021, our mother was called to reunite with her husband, family and friends. And so, her Heavenly journey begins.

Ida Clark was born November 5, 1934, a daughter of Clarence and Nellie Bebout.

She called Washington her home. She attended Washington High School, Class of 1953.

As a young girl, she would walk to the Washington Hospital to do volunteer work. And, during the "heydays" of downtown Washington, she worked at GC Murphy's.

On June 4, 1953, she married Gibson L. Clark, Jr. During their 58 years together, she became the mother of two sons, Gibson L. (Deana) Clark III, and Buddy T. Clark.

Once her sons were old enough, she went back into the work field. She worked in the food service department for the Trinity Area School District. She was part of the cafeteria staff for 25 years. Here, she made many lifelong friends. Each month the "retired angels" would meet at one of her favorite local restaurants, The Tower. She always looked forward to these get togethers.

Through the years, she became a loving grandmother to Kate McGill (Ben) and Jeremiah Clark. Then later a great-grandmother, better known as GG, to Ava and Ella McGill. All meant the world to her.

Family, which includes a sister-in-law, Lois Griffin, and faith were two major parts of her life. She was a member of James Parish, St. Hilary Church.

If you knew mom, there were two things she loved. The first was a good donut. But she believed there was no such thing as a bad donut. The other was her joy of reading. She could get lost in a good book. She loved sharing those books with her friends.

She also enjoyed playing bingo with her friends at the Washington Senior Citizens Center. The Friday night dinner outing with the girls meant a lot to her.

For those of you that knew our Mom, we ask that you think of a memory that made you smile and hold on to that. And for everyone, please remember your mom today through a memory, a call, or a hug. Thank you, Mom, for everything that you did. You are the best, and we love you!

Deceased, in addition to her parents and husband, are four brothers and a sister.

Friends will be received from 3 to 8 p.m. Friday, September 10, and from 11 to 12:30 p.m. Saturday, September 11, in Dale D. DeAngelo Funeral Home, 1290 Jefferson Avenue, Washington. Departing prayers will begin at 12:30 p.m. Saturday in the funeral home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 1 p.m. Saturday, in St. Hilary Church of St. James Parish, 320 Henderson Avenue, Washington. Interment will follow in The Washington Cemetery.
