Michael LeCompte "Mike" Fowler, 84, of Ottawa, Kansas, passed away Saturday, September 4, 2021, at his home.

A private family burial is scheduled.

A celebration of life will be held 1:00 P.M., Saturday, September 11, 2021, at First Baptist Church in Ottawa. Family will meet with friends from 12:00 noon until the service hour at the church.

Interment Evergreen Mound Cemetery, Franklin County, Kansas.

Mike was born Wednesday, August 18, 1937, during a New York Yankees baseball game, in New York City, New York, the son of Truman and Florence (LeCompte) Fowler.

He lived in Scotch Plains, New Jersey from 1937 until 1952, Naperville, Illinois from 1952 until 1960, Bloomington, Indiana from 1960 until 1965 moving to Ottawa, Kansas in 1968.

He earned a master's degree in psychology from Indiana University.

Mike was united in marriage with Sally Crawford June 5, 1999, at Pomona Lake in Kansas. She survives of their home.

He was preceded in death by his infant daughter, Sarah Fowler, parents, grandparents, great grandparents, great great grandparents and so on and so forth.

Mike is also survived by his sons, Owen Fowler his wife Sheri and Andy Crawford and grandsons, Caleb Fowler and Samuel Fowler, all of Austin, Texas.

Mike was an instructor at Ottawa University and worked as a psychologist in various mental health centers in east central Kansas. In his youth, his first job was picking peonies and then detasseling corn. Later he had additional occupations, including gravel pit and construction worker.

He was a member of the Society of Friends and attended First Baptist Church in Ottawa.

He was an artist and musician, playing the harmonica, with a stage name of Buick Hoadley. He was an explorer of religions and an avid reader.
