Robert Lee Adams, beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend passed away on September 2, 2021, at St. Vincent Hospital, Indianapolis, Indiana after a well-fought battle with multiple health issues. Robert (Bob) was born June 10, 1941, in Beech Grove, Indiana to William Judson Adams and Eva Loraine (Allee) Willoughby, where he grew up and went to Beech Grove High School (Class of 1959) with half-brothers, James and John Robert Kaster and half-sister, Betty Adams. As a young boy he most enjoyed spending summers on his grandparents' farm in Illinois.

Bob went into the U.S. Navy where he served as an E4 Boilerhouse Operator on multiple destroyers from 1959 to 1966, including a tour off the shores of Vietnam. His service sparked a lifelong study and enjoyment of History, especially Military History. Upon returning to Indianapolis from his time in the Navy he met and married Eleanor Louisa (Ingersoll) on August 12, 1967. Settling in Franklin Township, where they raised two daughters and just this past August celebrated their 54th Wedding Anniversary. Family has been the passion and mainstay of Bob's life. A devoted husband, father and grandfather he was ever present at whichever activity any of his girls participated in, from school sports, Girl Scouts to dance competitions and much more.

In 1971 Bob began his career with Roadway Express, where he started working on the docks and worked his way up to driving the big rigs. While at Roadway he received many awards and recognitions for safety and service and recognized for his educational programs within the Marion and Johnson County school systems. He retired in 2007 to spend more time with his family.

Bob was an active and charter member of Indian Creek Christian Church. His faith and devotion to God was the foundation of his life and character. At Indian Creek he was a part of many ministries, where he taught Sunday School and served for many years on the Eldership.

Throughout the years Bob has enjoyed playing golf with his friends, visiting his daughters and granddaughters, their extended families, Reds games with son-in-law George and the yearly anniversary trip with his wife and close friends, who have become family. He will be missed greatly by so many. He leaves behind a legacy of faith, compassion and love. "In the end these three remain faith, hope and love and the greatest of theses is love".

Robert was preceded in death by his parents; both Jim and John Robert and Betty. He is survived by wife, Eleanor; daughter, Christina (Angie Schmidt) Adams, Cynthia (George) Cornelius; granddaughters, Elizabeth and Christina Cornelius.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 8, 2021 at Little and Sons Stop Eleven Chapel from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon with funeral services immediately following at 12:00 noon. Burial will take place at Old Oaklandon Cemetery.
