Named William Rondell Ross when he was born in 1928. He grew up in Seattle Washington and as a youth he played basketball, loved to roller skate and dance. He graduated at Garfield Highschool. After school he delivered coal to homes by cart.

He grew to earn many titles through his life. The first of them was Communication operator in the Army (1947-1948), stationed in Elmendorf, Alaska. He earned his next title of beloved Husband after meeting Helene at a military dance, and then married her in 1949. He then earned the title of an adoring Father when his only daughter Judith was born in 1950.Their house burnt down in Alaska when she was a baby. So, they moved back to Seattle and built a home where they had their sons, William, Douglas, David, and Richard. He was a wonderful Father participating as coach in all the great American traditions, Baseball, and Basketball for all his boys and he showed up to every dance recital for Judie.

In 1982 he earned the title "Poppie" when Katrina was born and quickly expanded this new title with the same love he had for his children when Lauren, Caitlyn, Ian, Ana, Collin, Megan, Amber, and Angie, joined the family. They too have added to his titles as Great Grandpa with 9 more family members. As a dedicated family-man, he flew across the country to be with his Grandchildren for marriages, showed up for plays, games, and danced with his family every chance he got.

He built his forever home in Sons of Norway Park and participated actively in the community, becoming an honorary Norwegian. He worked hard and played harder. He dedicated his life to service of his community and was actively involved with the IUOE Local 302 for 72 years where he first earned the title President as he served the PNW for a couple years.

He again earned the title President for the Haller Lake improvement club for a period. He loved the social clubs he was a part of. The Elks, Eagles, Haller Lake Improvement Club, and Sons of Norway, to name a few of the clubs he gave his time and love to.

He served as President of Sons of Norway park for 5 years. He may have said he just went for the polkas and buffets; but those who knew him, knew he loved to give back to the community and not just be a part of. He passed down his favorite traditions of mushroom picking and clam digging. In his later years he developed many friendships, traveling and adventures, stayed very active, played championship golf with his sons, and even Ziplining in his 90's. His love for his family and dedication to the communities is inspiration for everyone who knew him.

He's dancing in Heaven with his wife Nanny Helene and his brothers, John, and Danny. Passed on August 20th, 2021, at 93 years of age. He will always be in our hearts.
