Douglas MacArthur Shelton, age 78, of Doran, Virginia, passed away Sunday, September 5, 2021 in a Richlands, Virginia hospital.

He was born in Richlands, Virginia and was the son of the late Charlie Joe and Pearl Lester Shelton.

He was a life long resident of the area and was a retired miner. He was a member of the UMWA. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by son in law, Bobby Jamison; two great-great grandchildren, Brayton Wayne Miller and Aria Mae Ward; sisters, Lucille Johnson, Oney Meyer, and Mary Jean Gillespie; and brothers, Raymond, Stuart, and Eugene Shelton.

Peggy Darlene Shelton and companion, Jermaine Marshall of Richlands, Virginia
Louise Pearl "Sissy" Miller and husband, Barry of Richlands, Virginia

Shawn Curtis Shelton and Heather Shelton of Richlands, Virginia

Funeral services for Douglas Shelton will be conducted Friday, September 10, 2021 at 12pm at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Chapel in Richlands, Virginia with the Rev. Terry Keen officiating. Interment will follow at Clinch Valley Memorial Cemetery in Richlands, Virginia. Pallbearers will be: Jermaine Marshall, Kevin Miller, Billy Davis, Randy Davis, Robert Davis, Wayne Martin, and Zachary Cochran. Honorary Pallbearers will be: Brian Street, Mike Paul, and Keith Kincaid. The Shelton family will receive friends from 6-9 pm on Thursday evening at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Home in Richlands, Virginia.
