Michael Dean Childers, 68, passed from this plane of existence to the next on Saturday, September 4th, 2021. He is survived by his son Christopher Childers, Gloria Thomas and granddaughter, Quinlan Childers, all of Irving, Texas; son James Childers of Ada; brother Philip Childers and wife Annamari of Tulsa; sister Kyra Childers of Ada; and brother Bradley Childers and wife Kim, of Ada; nieces Julie Childers, Sarah Kate Childers; and nephews Spencer Childers and Liam Shaughnessy, along with many other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his dad, Leroy F. Childers and his mother, Anna Lorraine Childers.
Mike attended St Joseph Catholic Grade School, and graduated from Byng HIgh School, class of 1970. Michael went on to complete his education in Drafting and Design at Southwest Institute of Technology. Mike worked for several companies designing commercial kitchen and bar sections for various restaurant concepts, most recently with Brinker International, and ultimately completed his career as an independent contractor.
Mike cultivated and inspired his son's interests for music, movies and food that has guided them through their lives. Mike's love of science fiction, gadgets, and cars influenced Chris to pursue a career in research and development, while his artistic talents and passion for the restaurant industry encouraged James to pursue both the food industry and expression of his own artistry. Mike was always there for his sons, never giving up and always making sure they knew he loved and supported them.
Mike was a fun-loving person who always enjoyed a good joke, and never turned down an opportunity to share that fun. He saved jokes to share with friends and family, and for many years he maintained a list of people he kept in regularly entertained by his emails.
Mike will be greatly missed by all who knew him. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the American Diabetes Association in Mike's memory.
