Phillip "Phil" Wayne Watts, 81, passed away on Sunday, September 5, 2021 after a long battle with heart disease.

Phil was born on January 13, 1940 to the late W.C. and Ola Watts, of Alabama. His parents owned a small grocery store and his dream was to become a grocer. He moved to Pensacola in 1983 and bought Barnes Supermarkets. His dreams where fulfilled when he built the business to 14 stores. When asked what his occupation was he replied, "just a butterbean salesman". He also enjoyed helping and talking to his customers in Mr. Bubbles, a laundromat he owned in later years. When Phil was not working he was golfing with his buddies at the Pensacola Country Club, where he was a member for over 30 years and played in many Amateur Classics. His five hole-in-ones were proof of his passion for golf. In 1999, he met Debbie Brown and a year later they were married in Las Vegas. They travelled the world together, playing golf for many years. Their Saturdays were always reserved for Alabama football since the days of Phil's hero, Bear Bryant. He was a member of First United Methodist Church and the Hadji Shrine.

Phil is survived by his wife of 21 years, Debbie "Deb" Brown Watts; three daughters, Kim Parrett (Dustin) of Gulf Breeze, Leigh Ann Lambert of Cullman, AL, and Brooklyn Showman (Matt) of Honolulu, HI; his younger sister, Jennifer Thornton of Fayetteville, TN; as well as four granddaughters and a great-grandson.

The family would like to thank Dr. F. James Fleischhauer for years of care given to Phil. Also, a very special thanks for the outpouring love from our Chantarene friends, you are a true blessing.

A small private service will be held per his request.
