Funeral service for Gerald B. Jackson of Simmesport will begin at 11:00am on Thursday, September 9, 2021 at Grace Community Church in Jacoby with Rev. Larry Thibodeaux officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.
Gerald B. Jackson, age 81, passed away on Monday, September 6, 2021 at Avoyelles Hospital in Marksville.
Gerald served proudly in the U.S. Army.
He was a former Police Chief in Simmesport.
Music was a great love of Gerald's. If he wasn't singing and playing his guitar at church on Sunday, he and his friends were playing for those in nursing homes and prisons trying to spread God's love and word. "Take my hand, Lord, and lead me home."
Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 47 years, Evaline Jackson of Simmesport; sister, Gracie Thibodeaux of Simmesport; brothers-in-law; John Smith and Kenneth Smith, Sr.; sisters-in-law, Juanita Hawks, Josephine Bowman, Charlotte Vaccaro, and Gladys Smith; special nephew, Konnor Smith; and numerous nieces & nephews.
Those honored to serve as pallbearers: Kenny Smith, Sr., Kenny Smith, Jr., Kris Smith, Keith Vaccaro, Jr., Jonathan Vaccaro, & Mike Bowman.
He was preceded in death by his father Willis Jackson & Julia (Bonnette) Jackson.
Visitation will begin at 9:00am until 11:00am on Thursday, September 9, 2021 at Grace Community Church in Jacoby.
