Sharon Rose Cooksey, 84, of Martinsville, passed away on Saturday, September 4th, 2021, at Southwood Health Center in Terre Haute.

She was the daughter of Clarence and Sarah (Bunton) Foltz and granddaughter of Thomas and Maude Bunton. Sharon was born in Morgan County, Indiana on Monday, November 30, 1936. Sharon graduated from Martinsville High School in 1955. The following year she married Charles "Bill" Cooksey on May 11th, 1956. He preceded her in death on October 1st, 2020.

Sharon was a loving wife, mother, grandma, and grandma great. She was a homemaker and was a member of the Helpful Hands (Hannah's) Extension Homemakers Club for over 50 years. She was an active member of Zions Hill Baptist Church and the American Baptist Women of the Friendship Association.

Survivors include daughter, Sara (husband, Lane) Sturgeon of Bloomington; son, John (wife, Lisa) Cooksey of Cloverdale; daughter, April Cooksey of Grayslake, IL. She also is survived by 8 grandchildren, Courtney, (husband, Jayson) Jarrett, Chris (wife, Polly) Sturgeon, Carey (husband, Jason) LaBella, Chanel (husband, Clint) Stickles, Mike (wife, Megan) Cooksey, Ethan (wife, Allyson) Cooksey, Franklin (wife, Jennifer) Cooksey, and Kate Cooksey. She was Grandma Great to 11 great grandchildren, Brooklynn, Beau, Alex, Eli, Abel, Theo, Dorothy, Rosie, Anders, Gideon and Abigail due to arrive in the next week or so. Also, she is survived by sister-in-law, Hildegard Cooksey.

She was preceded in death by her brothers, Ivan Foltz and Thomas Foltz; sister-in-law, Emma Jane Buis and brother-in-law, Robert Cooksey.

Family and friends are invited to visit on Wednesday, September 8th, 2021, from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm in the chapel at Neal & Summers Funeral and Cremation Center in Martinsville and an hour prior to the service at the church. A service celebrating the life of Mrs. Cooksey will begin at 11:00 am on Thursday, September 9th, 2021, at Zions Hill Baptist Church in Martinsville with Rev. Steve Brown and Rev. Robert Yount officiating. Mrs. Cooksey will be laid to rest in Zions Hill Cemetery following the service.
Notice: Per family request, all guests will be required to provide and wear a face mask before entering the building in effort to suppress the spread of COVID-19 and protect the family and community.
