Mary L. Olson of Sioux Falls passed away on Sunday, September 5th at Ava's House Hospice in Sioux Falls following a brief illness. Mary Louise Jenkins Olson was born February 26th, 1924 on her family's farm near Winnebago, Minnesota. She was a 1941 graduate of Winnebago High School after which she attended Bethel College in St. Paul, Minnesota for one year before enrolling in and graduating from the nursing program at Mounds Midway School of Nursing, also in St. Paul. Mary was married to A. Wallace Olson on June 13th, 1947. They were married for 66 years before his death in 2013. Wally was a pastor, so together, they served several churches over their lives, during which Mary was known for her gentle, gracious nature and devotion to her family and the Lords work. Mary has been a resident of Trail Ridge Senior Living Community in Sioux Falls since 2005. She is survived by her three sons, John (Earlene) of Dallas, Oregon, Carey (Rynette) of Valparaiso, Florida and Dana(Christa) of Sioux Falls; by eight grandchildren, Derek (Amy), Jaron (Jennifer), Seth (Jennifer), Benjamin, Rachel (Joel), Anna, Mary and Elizabeth; and by twelve great grandchildren, Kaylin, Trevor, Mia, Christopher, Avery, Riley, Ellie, her second Avery, Makenzie, Ada, Theodore and Cyrus. Mary is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be on Wednesday evening, September 8th from 5 to 7 PM at Heritage Funeral Home in Sioux Falls. The funeral service will be held on Thursday, September 9th at 10:30 AM at Faith Baptist Fellowship in Sioux Falls. Burial will be in the Ramsey Baptist Church Cemetery in rural Montrose. Memorial contributions in Mary's memory are suggested to Elijah's Tree Ministry.
