Preceded in death by husband, Thomas J. Morrison. Survived by children and spouses: Mary Helen and Robert Lamoureux, James and Deb Morrison, Kevin and Michele Morrison, Tom and Andrea Morrison, Ann Brigid, and T.J. Burburidge; 15 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; sisters, Madeleine Sanders, Janet Schiesl; sister-in-law-, Mary Morrison; numerous nieces and nephews, foster children, exchange students, and neighborhood "kids".
In honor of Mom's personality, bright attire encouraged. VISITATION: Thursday, September 9th from 5pm to 7pm followed by at 7pm at St. Cecilia Cathedral, 701 N. 40th Street. MASS OF CHRISTIAN BURIAL: Friday, September 10th at 11:15am at St. Cecilia Cathedral. Interment: Calvary Cemetery. Memorials will be directed by the family to various St. Vincent de Paul pantries at multiple parishes as well as the Josie Harper Hospice House.
Elizabeth B. "Betsy" Morrison was born on November 30, 1934 in St. Joseph, Missouri to Helen and Arthur "Bub" Burrowes and died September 5, 2021, surrounded by her five children, many children in-law and grandchildren. Betsy was predeceased in death by her beloved husband Tom; parents; brother; sisters and brothers-in-law.
Betsy "aka Betty Rose, The Betsy, Cuddles, Mama Doll, Grandma and G.G." is survived by her sisters, Madeleine Sanders and Janet Schiesl; sister-in-law, Mary Morrison; children: Mary Helen (Bob) Lamoureux, Jim (Deb), Kevin (Michele), Tommy (Andrea) and Brigid (TJ) Burbridge. Additionally survived by her 15 beloved grandchildren: Steve (Shelby), Milissa (Cody), Brigid (Philip), Megan (Kyle), Mandy (Branden), Anna, Matthew, Michael, Emondre, Patrick, Mary Ann, Eamon, Elizabeth, Thomas and Mary Kate; 9 "GGs" : Ella, Nathan, Maddie, Ava, Allie, Eli, Johnny, Katie and Anthony; special friends, Maureen, Mary and Willie Mo.
Betsy devoted her life to serving others as a Junior High teacher at St. Joan of Arc, grade school and a high school counselor at Cathedral and Marian High Schools. When she retired Betsy took on the job of Pastoral Minister at St. Cecilia Cathedral. Along with her professions Betsy loved volunteering in many different roles including RCIA director, school board president, parish council member, Senior Adult Ministry coordinator, Bible study friend and second Mom to many.
Betsy touched the lives of many through her love and devotion to God, the blessed Mary and her two-a-day rosaries. The first rosary was devoted to her family and extended family, each being mentioned by name, including children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews, their children and grandchildren.
The Second Rosary of the day was for the people that she felt needed it the most (even the opposing political party). Mom would ask those she came in contact with, "For whom would you like for me to pray today?" Many people would respond with their requests and later tell Mom that their special intention had been answered. "God is good!"
Her quick wit and sassy (sometimes sarcastic) sense of humor was with her until her final days. On the day before she died, Mom actually watched the Husker game and rolled her eyes over her glasses when she felt the Huskers were "running" up the score.
Betsy touched many lives and in return many lives blessed her. We would like to thank the medical professionals and caregivers at Physicians Clinic, Methodist Hospital, Brookstone Meadows, and especially Home Instead and Kindred Hospice. Thank you for loving our Mama as you would love your own.
