A native of Baton Rouge, Mrs. Doles lived most of her adult life in Plain Dealing. She attended Baton Rouge High School, where she won the Louisiana State Mixed Doubles Tennis Championship, and Louisiana State University where she was a member of Chi Omega Sorority. She later attended Fashion Merchandising school in New York City.

She met John Jones Doles, Jr at the Baton Rouge Country Club after he returned from serving in World War II. They married on Sept. 21st, 1951.

She was active in several organizations, including The T. Harry Williams Center for Oral History at LSU, The Cotillion Club of Shreveport, Cotillion Duchess Club, Sister Margaret's Christian Services, Board Member at the Glen, Plain Dealing Academy and The Dogwood Festival.
Mr. and Mrs. Doles enjoyed their life in Plain Dealing, often hosting parties and gatherings for family and friends, and events for members of the First Presbyterian Church in Plain Dealing. They traveled extensively. Some of her favorite trips included China, visiting the Vatican in Rome and retracing Mr. Doles' time during the war in France and Germany, and a very special trip to New York City with her daughters, granddaughters and granddaughters-in-law.
