Fred D. Scott, age 84, husband of Carolyn Scott of 127 Tanglewood Dr, Union, passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 4, at his home.
Fred was born on May 5, 1937 in Buffalo, son of the late Will and Bessie Scott. In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Shayne Brooks and husband Dale of Myrtle Beach SC, and Kristin Benson and husband Wayne of Boiling Springs SC, brother Billy Scott of Union, sister Carol Henderson of Glen Allen VA, and grandsons Tyler Brooks and Hogan Benson. He was predeceased by brother Clyde Scott of Union and sister Lillian Bernard of Glen Allen VA.
Fred was known by most everyone in Union. In fact, he installed almost all the septic tanks in this area and worked until shortly before his death. Fred loved Union, Buffalo, and the people who live here. It was always home to him, even when he lived away. He loved shooting pool, playing cards, bluegrass music, eating at Midway, and meeting his friends at Bojangles each morning.
A celebration of life will be held at Philippi Baptist Church in Union at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, September 8 conducted by Pastor Robert Scott. The family will receive friends immediately following the service in the fellowship hall.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks for contributions to be made in Fred Scott's memory to Philippi Baptist Church, 327 Philippi Church Rd, Union SC 29379.
