Evelyn Nisby Diggs, 80, a native of Terrebonne Parish and resident of Gibson, died at 5:30 a.m. Monday, March 20, 2006.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to funeral time Thursday at St. James Baptist Church in Gibson. Religious service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the church, with burial in the church cemetery.

She is survived by four daughters, Claudette D. Tyler, Elaine D. Washington, Linda Gail Diggs and Brenda Faye D. Pinkston, all of Gibson; two sisters, Roslyn N. Hall of Marrero and Lois N. Hall of Florida; three brothers, Lawrence Nisby Sr. of Gray, Wilbert Nisby Sr. of Gibson and Herschel Nisby of Marrero; 10 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Wellington Diggs; her parents, Daniel and Lillian Bowens Nisby; one son, Clarence Lee Diggs; and four brothers, Herman Nisby Sr., Raymond Nisby, Leroy Nisby and James Daniel Nisby.

She was a homemaker and a member of St. James Baptist Church.

She was a member of Pastor's Aid Club, a former senior choir member and a member of the Variety 12 Social Club.
