He was born June 28, 1935 in Wythe County, the son of the late Andrew Rumberg Arnold and Rhoda Dunford Arnold.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Freeda Harrell Arnold; brothers, Andrew Arnold, Dewayne Arnold and Claude Arnold; a sister, Catherine Story. Martin attended the First Church of Nazarene.
Survivors include three sons, Phillip, Sr. and Regina Arnold of Max Meadows, Michael and Victoria Arnold of Ashland, MO, Daniel and Ramona Arnold of Rural Retreat, VA; two daughters, Sharon and Benny Walters of Max Meadows, Karen Arnold and Mark Wagner of Bristol, VA; sister, Betty and Walter Fisher of Piney, VA; two brothers, Marvin and Jetta Arnold and Lester Arnold, all of Piney; five grandchildren, Joe and Katie Edwards, Phillip, Jr. and Heather Arnold, Bradley Walters, Gauge Arnold and Kyla Arnold; two great-grandchildren; his loyal precious companion, Dixie. Several nieces, nephews and extended family and friends also survive.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 4, 2021 at the Barnett Funeral Home with the Reverend Tom Underwood officiating.
Burial will be held Sunday, September 5, 2021 at Mt. Zion UMC Cemetery.
