Charles Edward Wharton, age 74, of Pettus, Arkansas, surrounded by his loving family entered the gates of Heaven on September 3rd 2021. Charlie was a member of Caney Creek Baptist Church. He was a devoted husband and loving father. He loved to laugh and had a host of friends which he nicknamed. Charlie had an exceptional work ethic. He was a farmer, welder and mechanic. He retired from 3M after 39 years of service. Charlie loved his family, dogs, hunting, and horse racing.

Preceded in death by his son Bill Edward Wharton, parents Bill and Gladys Cordell Wharton, sister Billie Jean Wharton Winfrey and brothers Gerald and W.C. "Sonny" Wharton.

He is survived by his love and wife of 51 years, Jewell Dean Wharton; daughters, Melisa Chesney (Glenn) of Lonoke, AR, Jennifer Norwood (Brandon) of Springdale, AR,  Angie Nichols (Ricky) of Lonoke, AR and Denise Clothier (Greg) of Wichita, Kansas; eight grandchildren, Drake Chesney (Elizabeth), Jasalyn Truelove, Charley Jo Chesney, Ryan Truelove, Kori Truelove, Kadan Norwood, Kiefer Norwood, Ricky Nichols (Tori); and three great-grandchildren, Jerrimiah Milhollen, Kolby Rose Nichols and Brody Nichols; numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

Funeral services will be held at Caney Creek Baptist Church at 2:00PM on Sunday, September 5, 2021 with burial at Weedon Cemetery.
