Leon Alfred Ward devoted husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle, and brother departed this life early Monday morning October 5, 2020. He was a native of Hampton, Virginia and the son of the late Jacob and Sarah Ward. He was the loving husband to Freda Ward for 31 years.

He received his early education in Hampton, Virginia and was a graduate of Phenix High School class of 1964 where he played both basketball and football. He enlisted in the United States Army in the late 60's and later became a commissioned officer. He attended flight school and thoroughly enjoyed his career as an Army Aviator. His passion and dedication led to him serving as an Instructor pilot and he soared even higher by becoming an Academic Master Instructor. He served in the Vietnam War and devoted over 13 years to the United States Army. He obtained a Bachelor of Applied Science Degree in Aviation Operations Management from Troy State University. He co-owned Aviation Education Consultants (AEC) located in Ozark, Alabama beginning in 1995 and became the sole owner from 2000-2016.

His amazing life will be forever cherished in the lives of his family who he loved dearly. He is preceded in death by his parents Jacob and Sarah Ward; sisters: Verdelle Chatman and Juanita Ward, brothers: James Ward, Milton Ward, Calvin Ward, Rogers Ward, and Walter Ward and son-in-law Stanford Adams. Survivors include wife Freda Ward, daughters Angela Ward, Alicia Ward Robinson, Cynthia Adams, son Roderick Dubose, grandchildren Jade Blocker (Quinton) and Justin Adams, and great grandson Chance Blocker. He will also be missed by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, classmates and neighbors.
