John Jeffery Banks, 72, a lifelong resident of Aurora passed away at his home, surrounded by his family on Monday, August 30, 2021. He was born January 17, 1949, the son of John and Margaret (Brown) Banks. In 1972 he married Mary Ann Kingsley in Aurora.
John was an active lifetime member of St. Michael Romanian Byzantine Catholic Church, 609 N Lincoln Avenue in Aurora. He was very proud of his Romanian Catholic heritage. He was a graduate of Marmion in 1964 and worked for many years as a printer. For twenty years, he volunteered at Midwest Greyhound Adoptions. He will be remembered for his passion for cars, his handy man skills, and his Romanian Carnati. John took pride in his family and home and will be greatly missed.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Ann; daughter, Diana (Daniel O' Donnell) Russell; brother, James (Maggie) Banks; sister, Sandra Scott; and nephew, David Schele.
He is preceded in death by his son, John D. Banks and his parents.
Funeral service will be Friday, September 3, 2021 at 10:00am at St. Michael Romanian Byzantine Catholic Church in Aurora. Fr. Ronald Hilt will officiate with interment at St. Michael Cemetery.
Visitation will be Friday, September 3, 2021 from 9:00 am to 10:00am at the church prior to the service. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to St. Michael, 609 N. Lincoln Avenue in John's memory.
