She was born October 22, 1945 in Hood River, Oregon (actually in the car on the way) and was the daughter of the late Gustave Maurer and Gladys (Muma) Maurer. She was raised and received her education in the Parkdale, Tygh Valley, and Maupin communities, graduating from Maupin High School Class of 1963.
She was united in marriage to Gene Dennis Walters in September 1961 in Goldendale, Washington.
Following their marriage, they resided in Oregon, in the communities of Wamic, Tygh Valley, and Milwaukie until 1964, when they moved to the Forest Grove community where she had resided since. They later divorced.
Janice had worked as an engineer technician for Intel, Inc. for thirty-two years, until she retired in 2012.
She was a member of the Cornelius Eagles Lodge Aerie # 4177. Janice was also a choir member in the group Forest Grove Gleemen and Girls, which was always a favorite performing act during the famous Gay Nineties celebration days.
Among her special interests, she enjoyed gardening, caring for her flowers and oil painting, Janice also enjoyed playing the guitar, singing and dancing. She also enjoyed her pets Memo and Willow.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Gustave and Gladys Maurer; by her two sisters, Violet Nova and Lola Moore, and her two brothers, Wesley Maurer and Billy Maurer.
Survivors include her four children and their spouses, Tammy Walters-Schaaf and Richard Ewing, of Cody, Wyoming; Tonya Eileen Walters-Keipinger and Gerald "Jerry" Keipinger, of Forest Grove, Oregon; Reuben "Robby" Gene Walters, of Palm Springs, California and Amanda Lynn "Mandy" Randall, of Cornelius, Oregon and her sister, Sunday Lease, of Vancouver, Washington. Also surviving are her four grandchildren, Jordan Keipinger, of Forest Grove, Oregon; Natasha Schehen and her husband, Jared, currently serving as an officer in the United States Navy, stationed at Bahrain, Kingdom of Bahrain in the Persian Gulf; Jessica Randall of Vernonia, and Miranda Randall of Cornelius.
The family suggests that remembrances may contributions to the St. Jude foundation in her memory.
