Melissa Jean Perry Lewis passed away peacefully after a short battle with cancer on August 14th in Midvale, Utah at the age of 56. She was born on December 16, 1961 to Richard and Barbara Perry in Tulare, California.

She met the love of her life, Marvin Lewis, at Azusa Pacific University and graduated with an bachelor's degree in Mathematics with honors in 1984. They married and continued to live in southern California following the birth of their only child, Jennifer, until Marvin's job moved the family to Salt Lake City, Utah in 1994.

Melissa worked in IT support services for most of her life as a programmer and Project Management expert, specializing in QA and scheduling. Melissa loved resolving difficult problems and assisting others to do the same.

Melissa had passions for cooking, knitting, crochet, cross stitch, animal welfare, and volunteering. Melissa wanted everyone to feel welcomed and loved. She was always making gifts for others and helping the local animals. She loved knitting baby blankets for her nephews and nieces newborn babies.

Melissa is survived by her husband, Marvin; her daughter, Jennifer (Mark) Amos; her father, Richard Perry; her brother and sisters: Susan (Rod) Feil, Mandy (Michael) Gillham, Elaine Barton, Eric (Kathy) Perry, and Lisa (Jeff) Morgan; and many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her mothers, Barbara and Patricia.
