He was predeceased by his parents Sally Spilman Tufts and Maximilian Agassiz Tufts.
He was a tennis pro at Chestnut Forks Athletic Club for many years and at the time of his passing was a devoted employee. His infectious smile and enthusiasm will be greatly missed.
He is survived by three brothers, Maximilian A .Jr, Baldwin D., Henry P.; one sister, Phoebe R.; nieces and nephews, Maximilian A. Tufts III, Jonathan L. Tufts, John P.H. Pennington, Sally F.R. Pennington, Sarah S. Tufts, Hannah C. Tufts, Henry K. Tufts; three grandnieces, Camden M. Tufts, Caroline F. Tufts, Charlotte A. Tufts and grandnephew, Maximilian A. Tufts IV.
A celebration of his life will be held at 11 a.m. on, Saturday, March 26 at St. James Episcopal Church, Warrenton. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Fauquier Falcon Booster Club. P.O. Box 1166, Warrenton VA 20188.
