Louisville - Paul Adam Zimmerman, Sr., 83, beloved father and grandfather, passed away Monday, August 30, 2021, with his children by his side.

A Louisville native, Paul was a resident of Middletown for nearly his entire life. He served as a Middletown City Commissioner from 2011 - 2020. Paul was a graduate of Eastern High School and the University of Kentucky (BA, Journalism), where he was a proud member of the Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity. Following college, he served in the Army Reserve. At the beginning of his career, he was a reporter for the Lexington Herald Leader. He went on to be a reporter, news writer, and assistant news director at WAVE TV before starting his own public relations firm. Later, he served as Executive Director of the Louisville Board of Independent Insurance Agents and retired as Director of Communication, CAE, for Independent Insurance Agents of Kentucky.

Paul was a member of Middletown United Methodist Church, and he loved his church family. Over the years, he was involved with and served on the boards of several community and charitable organizations, including the Middletown Inn Historic Preservation Corporation, the Historic Middletown Museum, the Middletown Civic Club, and Carriage House Preschool (formerly Louisville School for Autistic Children). Paul loved old cars and science fiction literature; he was an avid collector of antique toys and vintage Christmas decorations. Perhaps most importantly, he was loved and admired by so many friends, near and far.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Adam and Rose (Frymire) Zimmerman. He is survived by his son, Paul Adam Zimmerman, Jr. (Kristen Roach) of Granby, CT, his daughter, Brooke Sharp Zimmerman of Louisville, and his two grandchildren, Brooke's sons Felix Sharp Humble and Arthur Paul Humble.

Due to COVID precautions, a memorial service to celebrate Paul's life will be held at a later date. Interment will be at Cave Hill in a private ceremony.

The family suggests donations in Paul's honor to the American Lung Association and/or Wayside Christian Mission. Ratterman Brothers East Louisville is in charge of arrangements.
