Roger was owner/operator of Verret's Small Engine Repair and Oilfield Supply. He was a gifted mechanic. Additionally, he was a talented cook, grill master, woodworker, and gardener. Roger's nickname was "Rowdy" and it was quite appropriate. He was happiest hosting holiday and other get-togethers where he loved cooking for a crowd of friends and family. Roger had a heart of gold and a very generous spirit. He felt proud to be raising his grandson; which brought him much joy and happiness.
Roger was preceded in death by his mother, Sandy Sanders Verret; paternal grandparents, Samuel and Emma Verret; and maternal grandparents, Clarence and Donie Sanders.
Those left to cherish his memory include his grandson, Will Wisdom (who Roger considered his son); father, Nicholas Verret; brother, Rev. Nick Verret, Jr.(Angela); sister, Denise Verret Thompson (Bill); nieces and nephews, Brittany Jones Osborn (who Roger called "his baby girl"), Alex Thompson, Micah Verret, Matthew Verret, and Dr. Meredith Verret; along with friends he considered family, Josh and Alisha Brown and family; a special furbaby, Sally; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and other close friends.
Graveside services will be held at 3:00 PM on Wednesday, September 1, 2021 at Magnolia Cemetery under the direction of Southern Funeral Home with Rev. Bo Prather and Rev. Nick Verret officiating.
Alex Thompson, Micah Verret, John Thornton, Josh Brown, Kevin Clark, and Gary McDaniel will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Lowel Hubbard, Zach Thornton, and Steve Osborn.
