Gerald Lee "Gary" Scott, age 80, of Mount Gilead, passed away Thursday morning, September 2, 2021, at the Lexington Court Care Center.

Gary was born in Waterloo, Ohio on August 29, 1941 to John Paul and Mildred (Wiseman) Scott. After graduating from Marion Harding High School, class of 1959, Gary had a successful career at HPM in Mount Gilead and Hildreth Manufacturing in Marion where he retired in 2003.

Gary married his true love, Sherry K. Evans, on July 10, 1993 and shared the past 28 wonderful years together cherishing time with family, friends, and countless travel excursions including RV adventures around the country.

Those who know Gary are familiar with his passion for a variety of hobbies including a good game of cards, cheering on OSU, visiting the beach, fishing, trains (traveling as well as constructing an entire village with multiple model trains), and John Deere pride, "If your tractor isn't green, it's not really a tractor". An accomplished woodworker, Gary's attention to detail is shown in the beautiful furniture he has created.

Music was an instrumental part of Gary's life since he was a young boy. Throughout his life Gary loved playing music with his band(s), the most well-known being "Three's A Crowd". Whether it was a jam session or playing for a crowd, Gary was admired for his talent as a lead guitarist and vocalist, as well as playing the steel guitar. Through sharing his knowledge with others, including many of his grandchildren, Gary's enthusiasm for music will always be remembered.

Gary lived for laughter in the simplest of moments, and passed after experiencing a lifetime of love from friends and family. He is remembered fondly for his wisdom, witty humor, affection, love for dogs, his adventurous spirit for new experiences, and his contagious laugh.

Surviving is Gary's loving wife, Sherry, of Mount Gilead; six children: Sherri (Joe) Long of Dallas, TX, Kevin (Jennifer) Scott of Clarksville, TN, Robin (Brad) Hoeflick of Fredericktown, Brian (Elisha) Zerman of Mount Gilead, Melissa (John) Chmielewski of St. Louis, MO, Jenny Bachelder of Mansfield; ten grandchildren: Eric, Alex, Tiffany, Nathan, Ryan, Susan, Cody, Lane, Ryan, Brock; and seven great grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Paul Eugene Scott and a sister, Janeeth "Sis" Bingman.

A graveside service will be held to honor and celebrate Gary's life at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, September 9, 2021, at Rivercliff Cemetery, 201 E. Marion Street, Mt. Gilead, OH 43338, officiated by Clayton Hershner of Mount Gilead Church of Christ.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in the name of Gary Scott to the Morrow County Dog Shelter, 80 N. Walnut St., Mt. Gilead, OH 43338.
