Obituary of Mary Jane Chapman
Funeral service will be at 1 pm Saturday, September 4, 2021 at the Church of Love for Mary Jane (Janie) Simmons Chapman. Interment will be in Mt. Lebanon Cemetery on Chandler Mountain.
On August 30, 2021, Mary Jane (Janie) Simmons Chapman went home to be with the Lord.
Her life was spent as a devoted Christian, loving daughter, wife, mother, and grandmother. She was good in every way.
Born and raised in Attalla, Alabama, she graduated from Etowah High School in 1956 and married the love of her life, Harold Ray Chapman. They travelled and started their family, settling in Atlanta, where she resided until her passing.
She loved playing cards, the Braves, ice cream, classic country music, and telling us how good-looking Blake Shelton was during every episode of The Voice! We will miss her singing, her laugh, and too many other things to list.
She is proceeded in death by her parents - Raymond and Louise Simmons, brother – Jerry Simmons, sisters – Dorothy Simmons Ward and Marie Simmons Elliott, grandson – Dustin Keith Chapman, endeared daughter in law – Trina West Chapman, and the love of her life – Harold Ray Chapman.
She is survived by her children – Kathy Chapman (Rickey) Hill, Hellon Chapman (Ken) Thompson, Robert Ray Chapman, Lonnie Keith (Tammy) Chapman; her grandchildren – Stacy Cotner, Jeremy (DelLynn) Chapman, Brian (Ashley) Chapman, Laura Chapman (Joey) Miller, Brandon (Candice) Chapman, Leigh Ann Hill Mendez, April Hill, Anthony Thompson, and Zachary Thompson; 13 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 12 pm - 1pm at the Church of Love.
