Harold Sanford "Sandy" Jenkins, age 67, of Greeneville, Tennessee, died August 31, 2021, at the James H. Quillen VA Medical Center in Mountain Home, Tennessee.

Sandy was born May 24, 1954, in Austin, Texas to the late Walter Dayton Jenkins and Gaye Yvonne Sanford (1930-2007) and was preceded in death by grandparents Harold Dayton Jenkins and Jo Burnside Jenkins as well as Vernon T. Sanford, Sr. and Allyne Bruce Sanford.

Sandy was an insightful, accomplished, spiritual man of science who wore many hats and had many passions throughout his life. He served his country as a member of the United States Air Force. He earned Bachelors and Masters degrees in Psychology from the University of Central Oklahoma and a Masters in the History of Science from the University of Oklahoma and certifications in Nursing and wellness. In his final years he served his adopted community as a valued member of the Debusk Fire Department in Tennessee.Sandy was a rare man of both heart and mind who was a teacher by nature in life and even in the process of dying. He never failed to show up for a friend.

When he had time for himself, Sandy loved to spend it reading, researching, or with the four dogs who were his dearest companions in his last years. Taking them out for walks, going hiking, traveling, and engaging in personal research projects were always considered time well spent.

He is survived by his special companion, Pattie Jenkins, adopted in heart niece L. V. Johnson, and several close friends. There wasn't anyone who crossed his path that their life was not profoundly changed by his wit, wisdom, knowledge, or gentle friendship.
