Jerry Wayne Anderson, 64, of Marion, North Carolina, passed away peacefully Thursday, September 02, 2021 at his residence with his family by his side.

A native of McDowell County, he was born May 11, 1957 to the late Joseph Ray Anderson and Thelma Copely Anderson.

Jerry was known as a hard worker who was always helping others. He was a great storyteller who had an even better sense of humor. He loved his family and teaching others. Jerry liked spending time in the outdoors, whether it was by feeding the squirrels or sitting on the porch.

He is survived by three children, Angela Gunter (Michael), Todd Anderson (Sarah), and Aaron Anderson (Heather); seven grandchildren, Caleb Gunter, Noah Gunter, Keragen Gunter, Lauren Shuping, Raelynn Anderson, Emma Anderson, and Lillian Anderson; and four siblings, Margaret Sisk, Bill Anderson (Darlene), Linda Burns (Ed), and Howard Anderson. He is also survived by his companion, Jane Young; and Richard Joyner, who he thought of as a son.

In keeping with his concern for others, no formal receiving of friends will be held. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, September 04, 2021 at 2:30 p.m. at McDowell Memorial Park.
