His greatest love was snow skiing. After retiring he spent time following his passion as a part time ski instructor at Snow Trails in Mansfield. He became a member of the Professional Ski Instructors of America which he took very seriously and was proud to have achieved his skiing level designation. His second love was the water. He owned numerous boats over the years that enabled him to enjoy Lake Erie. True to his form of constantly wanting to improve himself he attained his U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary Certification.
Kevin also enjoyed being outdoors and nature. His project to obtain his Eagle Scout rank, which is the highest designation of the Boy Scout's, revolved around this passion. Hiking and riding his bike were other interests that brought Kevin great pleasure.
Preceded in death by parents, Robert and Marjorie Sweeney. Kevin is survived by his sister Maureen Bland, brother-in-law Rod Bland nephews Mitchell (Margie) Bland and Austin (Jamie) Bland and 1 great nephew (Cormick) and 2 great nieces (Sydney and Quinn).
The family would like to thank the excellent doctors and nurses at The OSU James Cancer Hospital who cared for Kevin during his illness. Additionally the family wants to thank the many friends that gave him so much love and support during the last several years.
A celebration of life open house will be held at the residence of his sister at 7480 Cheshire Rd., Galena, Ohio 43021 on Sunday, Sept. 25th from 3 until 6 p.m.
