Obituary
Michael J. Hinton
Finally finding peace, Mike passed away on August 5, 2021, at home, in Fargo, ND.
He was born April 19, 1961, to Larry and Karen Hinton, in Park Rapids, MN. The oldest of 5 children, the shenanigans never stopped. From taping up babysitters, to driving snowmobiles through the garage door, the stories could go on for days, with all that went on in the house on Front Ave.
In high school, he met his soon-to-be wife, LeAnn Christenson. They both graduated with the class of 1979. Soon after came the best part, Brandon and Danielle. (Oh, the cons of not writing your obituary!)
In the late '80s, he gained employment with Aker Door out of Ham Lake, MN. This job led to his 25+ year career of selling and installing overhead garage doors. Eventually returning home to Park Rapids, MN., he and LeAnn, owned and operated their own company, "Park Ave Overhead Doors and Floors."
Some of our fondest memories will come from our Park Rapids home. Hosting the Pork-A-Thons, the eye-rolls every Christmas, when a 15ft tree was required, and we'll NEVER forget the butter incident, (you'll have to ask Branden Marek about that one). Also, remember, "everyone needs to properly learn how to cut grass; you can't just go at it without a plan", and for that, we are thankful. Mike had a great heart and many skills. The man could build anything. And the management skills he obtained, while overseeing a bunch of hung-over teenagers, during all those wood chopping sessions, was impeccable.
Mike had a great passion for hunting, Westerns, NASCAR, Labrador dogs (R.I.P. Duke and Tucker), snowmobiling, his lawn, and cussing in the garage with a stiff drink. We will never see John Wayne or Dale Earnhardt again, without thinking of him. You will truly be missed and never forgotten.
"There are no happy endings. Endings are the saddest part. So, just give me a happy middle and a very happy start." – Shel Silverstein. That you did Dad, that you did!

He will always be remembered by his son, Brandon Hinton (Katie) of Stacey, MN., and their three daughters: Emma, Kendyll, and Ella. His daughter, Danielle Becker (Jeremy) of Hawley, MN., and their three children: Owen, Charlee, and Henry. His brother, Dan Hinton (TJ) of Las Vegas, NV.; and his sister, Tammy Carey (Pat) of Park Rapids, MN. And not forgetting the many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and the boatload of friends he made along the way.
Loved ones lost before him and is now resting easy with, are his parents, Larry & Karen Hinton; brothers: Dean Hinton and Charlie Hinton; and his Grandparents, George & Magdalene Hinton and Louise & Laura Pollock.
Please join us for Mike's Celebration of Life party, at the "Shack"; Rick & Joan Knobloch's residence. Go past the barn on the right and head on back! 5***3 210th St. Park Rapids, MN 56470
September 18, 2021, from 12pm-4pm. Prayer service by Mike's friend, Pastor Bill Meyer, at 12:30 pm., with lunch served after.
