Jessie R. Smith, 87, of Wilkes-Barre died Friday morning in Hospice Community Care Inpatient Unit, Geisinger South Wilkes-Barre.
Born in Wilkes-Barre on June 30, 1919, she was the daughter of the late Donald F. and Margaret Leiby Alexander. She was a graduate of Meyers High School, Wilkes-Barre.
Mrs. Smith had been employed for 20 years as a clerk by Anthony Drug Store.
She was a member of Firwood United Methodist Church, Wilkes-Barre, was a member of the JLY Class and served as a volunteer at Geisinger Hospital.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald; daughter, Judy Wandell; son, William; sisters, Marion Alexander; Jane Mahon; brother, Donald Alexander.
Surviving are sons, Donald Jeffrey Smith, Salem, Conn.; David W. Smith, Wilkes-Barre; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Thursday at 11 from Frederick & Snowdon Funeral Home, 617 Carey Ave., Wilkes-Barre, with the Rev. Douglas Posegate officiating.
Interment will be in Oak Lawn Cemetery, Hanover Township. Friends may call Wednesday, 6 to 8 p.m., at the funeral home.
