Sonya Leann Bevis Thomas, 40, of Sheffield, Alabama, went
home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, August 24, 2021, at
North Alabama Medical Center with family by her side.

Sonya was born November 5, 1980, to Norris R. Bevis, Sr.,
and Leslie J. (Wright) Bevis in Lima, Ohio. Sonya leaves
behind: her mother, Leslie Bevis of Atlanta, Georgia, and
father, Norris R. (Gwenda) Bevis, Sr., of Lima. She was united
in marriage to Robert Thomas in August of 2009.

She was survived by: her fiance; six children, Kawanie
(Samaya) Williams, Amieon Bevis, Avyona Thomas, TyLand Thomas, Khi-land Thomas, and Hunter Thomas; three
brothers, Victor (Andrea) Bevis of Austin, Texas, Norris
R. (Rebecca) Bevis, Jr., of Lima, Ohio, and Quincy Bevis
of Lima, Ohio; two sisters, Kayoma Thompson of Atlanta,
Georgia, and Kaletra and Lucian Bevis of Alabama; two stepbrothers, Keith (Karea) Jackson of Lima, Ohio, and Kendall
Jackson of Lima, Ohio; two step-sisters, Andrea Jackson of
Fort Mill, South Carolina, and Kimberly (Logan) Luzader of
Durham, North Carolina; two grandchildren, Son'montae
Bevis and Ezekiel Williams; she is loved by her godmother,
Audray Allen; and several aunts and uncles, nieces and
nephews, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Roosevelt and
Verdell Wright, and Elvin R. and Amie Bevis; granddaughter,
Ivi-Anna Bevis; and husband, Robert Thomas.

Sonya was a 1999 graduate of Lima Senior High School. Sonya
was quite the traveler, cook, mother, and grandmother. She
was very creative with her cooking and designing. She was
very giving, loving, and caring to anyone and everyone she
met, with a very big heart for family. Sonya was a certified
nurse assistant, providing home health care. Sonya loved to
volunteer, attend church, and was known as the neighborhood
mother.

Sonya was a member of the Trinity Missionary Baptist
Church of Florence, Alabama. She helped with the nursery at
the church and believed in celebrating family and life. Sonya
had a smile that lit up the room and it will be missed.

Services will begin noon Friday at Grace Memorial Funeral Home, Sheffield, Alabama. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery, Sheffield, Alabama.
