Following an illness of two months, physical death came to Shelby Rackley Ford of Indian Trail, N.C. Monday, August 30,2021 at the Matthews Novant Hospital.

Shelby was born July 3, 1938 in Clinton, N.C.

In her young years, because of the work of her father her family lived in a variety of places, the last of which was the City of High Point.

She is preceded in death by her parents Arthur Cramer Rackley and Mrytie Bell Strickland Rackley and by her sister Joyce Carter.

Shelby is survived by her husband of more than 60 years, the Reverend A Gayle Ford, her daughter Karen Elizabeth Ford of the home, her son "Jimmy" Arthur Ford and his wife Jennifer "Jenni" of Greensboro and two young grandchildren, Ella Ford (age 10) and Everett (age 3.)

As a pastor's wife, Shelby was actively involved in the life of her husband's churches, working with children and youth, teaching Sunday School, camping, crafts, working with United Methodist Women, and more. She was also involved in the work of United Methodist Women on a larger level, serving as a District President.

Additionally, Shelby was also deeply involved in the Extension and Community Association (formerly known as Home Extension Clubs,) of North Carolina, serving not only as a District President but for two years, 2019 and 2020, serving as the State President.

Her professional work including "in-school" reading programs for children, one of which she developed, and work as a secretary in churches other than those served by her husband. Her college major was Business (High Point College/University.)

The family will receive guests and visitors Friday evening, September 3, 2021 from 5:00 o'clock until 8:00 o'clock p.m. at the Gordon Funeral Service in Monroe, N.C. (1904 Lancaster Ave.) Masks and social distancing will be required of those attending.

Due to the rise in Covid-19, a Memorial Service will be held at a later date. In the meantime, a Graveside Service will be held at a time and place yet to be determined.

In lieu of flowers donations can made in Shelby's memory to Victory Junction, 4500 Adam's Way, Randleman, N.C.,.
