Jewell David Rains Clark, 99, went to be with her Lord and Savior on August 28, 2021. She was born in Dothan, Alabama on February 12, 1922, the third of eight children born to John and Annie Mae David. She was a graduate of Florida State College for Women, now Florida State University, and taught elementary school before marrying Tom Rains in 1948. Together they owned Rains Sewing Center in Tallahassee, FL until Tom's death in 1973. Through a mutual friend she later reconnected with RJ Clark, her old high school sweetheart. They married in 1976 and enjoyed retirement in Fort Walton and Panama City, FL for the next 28 years. A devoted Christian from age 35, she was active in Tallahassee Heights Methodist Church while living in Tallahassee and Hiland Park Baptist Church after moving to Panama City.
She is survived by two sons, Paul Rains (Bobbi) of Orlando, FL and Randy Rains (Melva) of Loganville, GA; two stepsons, Tom Rains, Jr (Linda) of Tallahassee, FL and Earl Clark (Beth) of Niceville, FL; four stepdaughters, Martha Bayer (Peter) of Mary Esther, FL, Mimie Mikolay (Daniel) of Pensacola, FL, Donna Sue Rains of Port Charlotte, FL and Betty June Fletcher (Jim) of Marion, IN; three brothers, Russ David (Diane) of Hawkinsville, GA, Ed David of Panama City, FL, and Robert David (Barbara) of Spring Hill, FL; 21 grandchildren, 37 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 Noon, Friday, September 3, 2021 at Bevis Funeral Home Chapel, 200 John Knox Road, Tallahassee, FL 32303, interment will follow at Roselawn Cemetery.
