Tom Smith died on Aug. 1, 2021 with family at his side. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Patsy; children Love (Michael), Gene (Rebecca), Toni (Chris), and Terry; and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, and a great great grandchild; his sisters Ruby and Gwen, his brother Ted, numerous nieces and nephews and their families.

Born to Calvin Smith and Margaret Richardson in Tecnor, Calif., on June 8, 1935, Tom's early years were spent on the family ranch. Tom and his sisters and brothers; Ruby, Calla, Corky, Nelly, Bob, Bill, Ted, and Gwen, were a close family. When their father died in a tragic accident, the family moved from the ranch to Dorris, Calif. Many of the children went to work to support the family along with their mother. The family stayed close throughout the years. As adults, the four brothers built dune buggies and spent their free time roaming the desert, enjoying life.

Tom served in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean War. He worked for Burlington Northern Railroad for over 30 years and was proud to be a brakemen/conductor. He was a great jokester, and loved to tell stories, and tease the grandchildren. He was loved by many, and will be missed.
