Carolyn Ann Zimmer passed away on Monday, August 30, 2021 at the age of 88 years.
Carolyn was born in Armada Township on June 19, 1933. She was a daughter of Carl and Elizabeth (nee Broxater) Popp. Carolyn was a 1951 graduate of Armada High School and married her sweetheart, Joseph Zimmer, on September 15, 1951. She was an immaculate seamstress and had an artistic mind with her ability to see before she created. Her masterpieces were hung in drapery form all over Northern Macomb County and predominantly in the historic homes in Romeo. Carolyn loved beautiful things. She was gifted with the ability to create art through painting; of a green thumb and her beautiful gardening; and to play organ and piano from the time she was 15 years old in 2 different parishes. Carolyn enjoyed golfing, bowling and visiting the family cabin in Grayling. She will be greatly missed by her loving family and many friends.
Carolyn is survived by her children, Katherine E. Zimmer Rowley, John (Deborah) Zimmer and Michael (Elvera) Zimmer; grandchildren, Jennifer Zimmer, Benjamin (Amy) Zimmer, Philip (Cortney) Zimmer, Adam (Ashia) Zimmer, and Katrina (Christian) Rowley Clem; great-grandchildren, Corban Burr, Audrey Zimmer, and great-grandson on the way; siblings, Susan Schmidt and Roger (Mary) Popp; and many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Carolyn was predeceased by her grandson, Aaron Zimmer, great-granddaughter, Grace Zimmer; husband, Joseph Zimmer; and parents.
Visitation will take place on Thursday, September 2, 2021 from 10:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at St. John and Paul Catholic Church, 7777 28 Mile Road, Washington, MI. The Celebration of Life Mass will take place on Thursday, September 2, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at the church. The burial will take place following the mass at Bruce-Armada Cemetery in Bruce Township.
