After a short service in police work, she decided to give a try at Dental Hygienist, she liked the medical field so much, she changed careers again and enrolled then completed nursing school at College of The Albemarle, receiving her Registered Nursing License. She successfully worked in this field until she retired 5 years ago and went to work with her sister in the jewelry business. She found joy and purpose in every endeavor she adventured to try, she made lifelong friends and touched many lives along the way.
Surviving are her daughters - Terilyn Adie and her husband, of Cape Coral, Florida; Savannah Black and her fiancé of Greenville, NC and her Son -Michael James Black of Smoaks, SC - Her mother – Jacqueline Steen Poplin of Sun City, Florida; and grandson, Troy Downey of Cape Coral Florida. She leaves behind her brothers James "Buddy" Gibson and his wife, of Arlington, TX and William Michael Gibson of Miami, FL, her sisters Sherrie Gibson Mullineaux of Tampa, FL, and Barbara Gibson Power with her husband of Marietta, GA., several nieces and nephews, and cousins. She was predeceased by her father - James E. Gibson of Jacksonville, NC. She will be sadly missed by her significant other, David Johnston, her dogs Scooter and Selena, and her big boy kitty Buddy of Tampa, FL.
Her memorial service will be at MacDonald Funeral Home, 10520 N. Florida Avenue, Tampa, FL 33612, Saturday morning, April 29th, 2017, at 10 o'clock. Family and friends may call at (813) 933-4950 until the hour of service on Saturday.
