Alvia "Ray" Hyser, 99, of Hanover, PA passed away on Saturday, August 28, 2021 at UPMC - Hanover Hospital.

Ray was the husband of the late Margaret E. Hyser who Ray always called Jake and who predeceased him in 2011.

Ray was born on February 1, 1922 in Germany, PA to the late Alvia Burtner Hyser and Naomi Pauline Hilbert Hyser. He was the last surviving of their five children.

Ray was a World War 2 veteran of the United States Army. After his discharge, he worked as a painter for Black & Decker.

Ray is survived by his son, Robert Hyser and his wife Brenda "Sue" Hyser of Westminster; four grandchildren, Michael (Patricia) Hyser of Las Vegas, NV; Suzanne (Bill) Murphy of Westminster; Tammy Price of Hanover, PA; and Theresa Clarke of Hanover, PA; and many loving great- grandchildren and great-great- grandchildren.

Ray was very patriotic and was a member of many service organizations. He was a member of the VFW – Harney (lifetime), the American Legion – Post 31, Westminster, the Littlestown Eagles (lifetime), and the Hanover Moose 227 (lifetime).

He also was a member of AAA for over 70 years. He liked doing puzzles, browsing at yard sales, fishing, camping, and spending time at the lake and the beach. In his later years, he was happiest watching wrestling on tv and enjoying a "jack and coke" and cheese crackers. Most of all, Ray loved spending time with his family.

His family will welcome friends on Friday, September 3, 2021 from 10 to 11:30 a.m. at Pritts Funeral Home and Chapel, 412 Washington Road, Westminster. His funeral service will begin at 11:30 a.m..

Interment, with military honors, will follow at Evergreen Memorial Gardens in Finksburg.
