Nicholas James Coleman, 18, of Prince George, VA passed away surrounded by family and friends after a courageous battle with brain cancer on Tuesday, August 17, 2021. He was born in Fredericksburg, VA on May 9, 2003 and was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Billy and Anne Coleman; and his step-fathers, Adam Staton and Timothy Holsinger. Nick was a rising senior at Prince George County High School where he was an honor student. He had a passion for science and history and had aspirations of attending Harvard. Nick volunteered with the Prince George Special Olympics and the Kids Ministry at Destination Church. He is survived by his mother, Amber Holsinger-Staton; father, Paul Scott; a brother, Patrick Staton; one sister, Andrea Holsinger; his devoted girlfriend, Sydney Jones; paternal grandmother, Henrietta Scott; step-grandparents, Debra and Johnny Melendez; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 28, 2021 at Destination Church in Hopewell, VA. The family will receive friends following the service until 4:00 p.m. Interment will be on Monday, August 30, 2021at 1:00 p.m. at Sunset Memorial Gardens, Fredericksburg, VA, where friends and family are welcome to attend. The family is being served by the Hopewell Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Childhood Cancer Ask Foundation at the VCU Children's Hospital.
