KERRY'S OBITUARY
U.S. Veteran
Our Dad, Kerry Franklin Hicks went to be with his Lord and Savior on August 23, 2021 due to congestive heart failure. He was 83 years old and was a lifelong resident of Yukon, Oklahoma. Our Dad was born on September 19th 1937 to Velma (Kay) and Frank Hicks. He grew up in Yukon and graduated from Yukon High school in 1955. While in school, he served as Vice President of his senior class and played many sports such as football, basketball and baseball. After graduating, he joined the Air Force in 1957 and served our country for four years. Shortly after returning home, he married the love of his life Sharon (Moore) Hicks. They went on to have my sister Kerri Dawn (Hicks) Borgfeld and I, Kristi (Hicks) Metheny. Kerry started working at Tinker Air Force Base in 1961 and retired in 1993 as a Deputy Chief Transportation Operations Officer. After retiring, he and our mom spent most of their time at their lake home on Arbuckle Lake. He enjoyed fishing, boating, cookouts, and hosting friends and family at their lake house. Our Dad was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather and made as many of his grandkids sporting events as possible. Above all this, he loved the Lord. He attended Discovery Church and loved his pastor, Kevin Fouts along with his church family. He never shied away from talking about Jesus and loved a good debate about the Bible. I could list a ton of accolades and awards that our dad received or achieved but all those have gone to the grave with him, but his greatest achievement that will continue on for generations to come is leading his family to Christ. He was an amazing spiritual leader and the best prayer warrior I have ever known. He is survived by our mom, his wife Sharon Hicks; daughter Kerri Dawn (Hicks) Borgfeld and son-in-law Carl Borgfeld; grandson Justin Alford and his wife Aspen, and grandson Joshua Alford; daughter Kristi (Hicks) Metheny and son-in-law Tom Metheny; grandson Kelly Metheny and wife Tori Metheny, grandsons, Austin, Jayden, and Kaden Metheny; granddaughters, Autumn, Jayda, and Kendal Metheny, and great grandkids Kyler and Ella Metheny. He was preceded in death by his parents Velma (Kay) and Frank Hicks; two sisters, Kay Hicks and Kathy (Hicks) Hoover, and son-in-law Randy Alford. Viewing will be held 9:00 a.m. - 8:00 p.m., with the family receiving friends from 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m., Thursday, August 26, 2021 at the funeral home. Services will be held at 1 p.m., Friday, August 27, 2021 at Discovery Church, Yukon, with interment following at the Yukon Cemetery.
